How to Become Famous on the Internet

Andy Warhol’s 1968 quote that “In the future everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes” is looking increasingly prophetic as the Internet age advances. Here are some ways in which you can become a web celebrity and have at least your 15 minutes of fame. Try it!
1
Learn the ins and outs of your computer. If you’re still in the dark ages and you’re relying on others to know how to manipulate everything on the computer while you just point and click, it’s time to get net savvy. Get a couple of books, go online, and practice HTML. Be reassured that one day you’re going to be able to change channels from ABC to CBS to social networks. Learn the basics so that when TV and the Internet truly become one, you’ll be ready.
  • Knowing how to perfect website content yourself is an important part of creating and massaging your image. If you need to rely on other people to do this, it can be frustrating and might not turn out the way that you’d like it to.
  • If you haven’t already done so, map out your personality profile for being online – the same awesome user name, the same awesome profile, etc., and you’ll be able to cut and paste this everywhere once you’ve done the hard work on perfecting it at the outset.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 1Bullet2.jpg
    1. 2
Focus on what might make you famous. While fame and becoming famous can be an elusive concept, what have you got to offer other people that will set you above the online masses? There are some key elements that will help your quest:
      • You’re fascinating, interesting, unusual, alluring, or unique. Much Internet fame is about working the “cult of personality”.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 2Bullet1.jpg
      • You have something worth people’s attention rather than being attention-seeking. What you have to offer readers and viewers is entertaining, enjoyable, and new (or presents a new way of looking at something age-old). It’s about the information and entertainment, not about “Look at me!”.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 2Bullet2.jpg
      • You’re fantastic at connecting with people and bringing out their best or firing up their energies. You’re affable, funny, or fun, and at ease in the online medium.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 2Bullet3.jpg
      • You’re like a chameleon, able to gauge the changes in style and crowd moods to move with the times, updating and pushing the trends before you. Think Madonna of the Internet.
      • Most of all, you’re able to get across all of the above in a screen environment. A tall order but very doable with the right frame of mind and approaches.

    2. Become Famous on the Internet Step 3 Version 2.jpg
      3
Define your idea of “fame”. Do you want to be famous everywhere for being an amazing personality, a tech goddess, or the most followed social butterfly? Or are you more focused, hoping to become famous for being the best in a particular area, such as being the best blogger on women’s fashion, the best video creator of science fiction spoofs, the best nature photographer online, etc.? Determine your style of fame so that you can remain focused on your online purpose. The second kind of fame is more likely online because fame is more “intimate” than the fame of movies stars and other celebrities.[1]
      • If you’re wanting to earn a living from being famous online, remember that a lot of “Internet fame” leads to speaking engagements, books, and a following of people keen to trust your expertise.

    3. Become Famous on the Internet Step 4 Version 2.jpg
      4
Check out Internet celebrities and famous phenomena. Learn what has worked for them and what sort of gimmicks, stunts, and brand portrayals they have used to good effect to increase and maintain their fame. YouTube has a lot of “Internet celebs”, often consisting of people hoping Hollywood will take note. And there are famous bloggers, Tweeters, and Facebook contributors. Take a look at people who are famous in the areas that interest you most. Some examples:
      • Venetian Princess (YouTube), Community Channel (YouTube), Chris Pirillo (tech), Reg Saddler (@Zaibatsu on Twitter), Jimmy Wales (Wikipedia), iJustine (viral video comedienne), Chiara Ferragni (the blonde salad blog), JulesDiaries (fashion blogger), Perez Hilton (gossip blogger), Kyle MacDonald (the red paperclip trader), etc. See also Wikipedia’s list of YouTube celebrities at:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_YouTube_personalities.
      • LOLCats is an example of a phenomenon.[2]
      • It’s sometimes worth looking at real celebrities online, the successful, tech-inclined ones like Stephen Fry, to see what you can “borrow” or adapt. The trouble with doing this, however, is that they are already famous and don’t have to do much online to prove anything!

    4. Become Famous on the Internet Step 5 Version 2.jpg
      5
Expect your Internet quest for fame to require effort. If you want to be famous, be prepared to put in the hard yards. Working an hour a night and playing the rest of the day won’t make you famous “just like that!” As well as being present, you’ll need to create content of interest so that people have something to read or watch and enjoy. Do your best not to repeat the wheel, and definitely don’t just cut and paste other people’s content. Not only will your viewers have already read it but they’ll be unimpressed by your laziness. That won’t make you stand out online!
      • Be dedicated. If fame is what you want, make this your passion, your hobby, your raison d’ĂȘtre every spare moment. It isn’t possible to ignore your online presence or people will forget you. Host chats, set up forums about yourself, hold a live video-link in to talk with others, update everything constantly, etc.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 5Bullet1.jpg
      • Be patient and persistent. It might take a while to be noticed or to hit that right viral moment. Don’t give up though; becoming famous usually takes time as you’re continuing to put in a lot of effort.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 5Bullet2.jpg
      • Be prepared to keep delivering what the people following you keep wanting! Be consistent and don’t leave them waiting.
      • If you don’t like the idea of having to be constantly available, don’t seek internet fame!

    5. Become Famous on the Internet Step 6 Version 2.jpg
      6
Publicize yourself. Publicize your IM screen names, URLs, and Net addresses everywhere and often, and reply to everyone. Treat the Web like your house: When people knock, be there to answer
      • Use real photos of yourself for avatars and profiles. People will want to be reassured that they’re connecting with the “real you”. Remember that the brand is “you”.
      • Social networking sites are the best, as many as possible. Try Buzznet, Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, Glogster, and anything related to whatever it is you’re promoting, such as blogging, moms, geeks, greenies, etc. is also a good new one. Add everyone – you’ll need to have at least 300 friends to help start spreading your existence and catapulting you to internet stardom.
      • Look for free pages with unlimited music, video, photo, etc., uploads, (whatever shows off your talents best) and find all the ways that these can then be connected to social networking apps. If it’s a free resource, take advantage of it.
      • Work your social network sites hard. Whenever you open an account, put your mark on it by making the links to your other pages across the internet very evident and easy to navigate to.

    6. Become Famous on the Internet Step 7 Version 2.jpg
      7
Get yourself spotted and transported around the Internet. Try to guest spots on blogs (especially the influential ones), and use web news aggregators such as Reddit, Slashdot, Fark, Digg, etc.[3]

    7. Become Famous on the Internet Step 8 Version 2.jpg
      8
Build a website with personality if you want to build a fan base. People need to feel that you – and not an anonymous webmaster – are personally available at least on a regular basis, if not daily. Make sure to update every single day, and remember: If it’s not interesting, users will click to the next page and move on.
      • Update your site with new audio and video clips as often as you can. Give your visitors stuff! For example, give them video, streaming audio, images for their PSP, etc. If you want to offer rich content, you’re going to have to spend a lot of time and a little bit of money, but it’s worth it.

    8. 9
Upload something that goes viral. Although it can be difficult to predict what will and won’t rock the socks off viewers, give things a go and publicize them well. One great example of fame gained as a result of a viral video is the story of Christian the lion. The video of Christian the lion was originally posted on a fan site, three decades after making. From there, a MySpace user posted it to MySpace, then another person placed it on YouTube.[4] The resulting views in the millions made internet stars of Christian and his two original owners, Australians John Rendall and Ace Bourke. From this experience, some things to consider include:
      • Find something that reaches out to people’s hearts. A story that shows courage, strength, daring, and love will always have its place in people’s hearts.
Become Famous on the Internet Step 9Bullet1.jpg
      • Find something that is interesting. Test it out on your friends, or in a forum, first to gauge people’s reactions.
      • Think about who will get famous from this viral venture? Will it be you as the uploader and generator of interest? Will it be the people, creatures, or cause featured in the content you’re uploading? Or perhaps, and optimally, all of you? While some of the answers are out of your control, if you want to be well-known as the person who set the viral item afire, ensure that you have an excellent launch-pad for it, such as a well written blog, an active Twitter account and a well-nourished Facebook. People will go looking for you if they know where to go.

    9. Become Famous on the Internet Step 10 Version 2.jpg
      10
Realize the fleeting nature of fame. Fame comes and goes. Even movie celebrities have their zenith and tumble into obscurity or have their downward spiral “problems” splashed across the tabloids or blog equivalents.[5] It always comes back to working it constantly, staying fresh, and enchanting your readers, followers, and viewers. If you’re up to it, you might be able to maintain your online fame for a long while. Aim for fame of the sort that will cause you to be written up in the annals of Wikipedia, proving you’ve reached adequate notoriety. In this way, your fame will live on unassisted, unless someone deletes you, of course, but that’s the Internet for you!

Five Ways to Improve your Site’s Ranking (SEO)

Five Ways to Improve your Site’s Ranking (SEO)

Follow these suggestions, and watch your website rise the ranks to the top of search-engine results.
  1. Publish relevant content

Quality content is the number one driver of your search engine rankings and there is no substitute for great content. Quality content created specifically for your intended user increases site traffic, which improves your site’s authority and relevance.
Identify a keyword phrase for each page. Think about how your reader might search for that specific page (with phrases like “mechanical engineering in Michigan,” “best applied physics program,” or “Michigan Tech degrees”). Then, repeat this phrase several times throughout the page—once or twice in the opening and closing paragraphs, and two to four more times throughout the remaining content.
Don’t forget to use bold, italics, heading tags, and other emphasis tags to highlight keyword phrases, but don’t overdo it.
Never sacrifice good writing for SEO. The best pages are written for the user, not for the search engine.
  2. Update your content regularly

You’ve probably noticed that we feel pretty strongly about content. Search engines do, too. Regularly updated content is viewed as one of the best indicators of a site’s relevancy, so be sure to keep it fresh.
  3. Metadata

When designing your website, each page contains a space between the <head> tags to insert metadata, or information about the contents of your page. If you have a CMS site, the UMC web team will have pre-populated this data for you:
    • Title Metadata
Title metadata is responsible for the page titles displayed at the top of a browser window. It is the most important metadata on your page. For those with a CMS website, the web team has developed an automated system for creating the meta title for each webpage.
    • Description Metadata
Description metadata is the textual description that a browser will use in your page search return. Think of it as your site’s window display—a concise and appealing description of what is contained within, with the goal of encouraging people to enter.
    • Keyword Metadata
Keyword metadata are the search phrases that people type when they want to find your page. You’ll want to include a variety of phrases. However, don’t get greedy: if your list becomes excessive, the browser may completely ignore the data. As a general rule, try to keep it to about 6-8 phrases with each phrase consisting of 1-4 words. A great example would be "computer science degree."
  4. Have a link-worthy site

Focus on creating relevant links within the text. Instead of having “click here” links, try writing out the name of the destination. “Click here” has no search engine value beyond the attached URL, whereas “Michigan Tech Enterprise Program” is rich with keywords and will improve your search engine rankings as well as the ranking of the page you are linking to.
  5. Use alt tags

Always describe your visual and video media using alt tags, or alternative text descriptions. They allow search engines to locate your page, which is crucial—especially for those who use text-only browsers.

SEO Myths Vs Facts

For SEO Services in Shahdara Call +91-9891949380 - Mr. Shad

SEO Myths Vs Facts
Unfortunately there is many myths and wrong information regarding SEO, i will try to explain them and give you the correct facts.

Keyword density

The Myth: If a certain procent of the words on a page consist of your keyword will get you higher rankings.
The Fact: This thinking have been around for a long time. You can test yourself that an article of 1000 words with a keyword density of 2% will rank better than an article with 100 words that has a keyword density of 5% if everything else was equal.
Comments: This doesn’t always mean that the density of keywords in an article is the most important. Write for your visitors and make sure your keyword is mentioned in your title, the subject and within the article in a natural way

PageRank

The Myths:
  1. PageRank tells how good your website will rank on Google.
  2. By linking to other websites will decrease your PageRank and will give you less rankings on Google.
The Facts:
  1. PageRank as Toolbar PageRank has almost lost all its value theese days. PageRank is based on backlinks and how it flows through a navigation on a website, and has very little to do with your rankings on Google.
  2. It can even be positive in the eyes of google rankings to be linking to external relevant websites but if you have alot of external links it could be negative because it causes the PageRank strength being lowered on your internal links flow.
Comments: See also the article about PageRank for a good explanation of PageRank.

Content to Code

The Myth: That a website with less relation to content to code will rank higher in Google.
The Fact: Google has no problems seperating header elements using HTML, CSS, JavaScript or similar. But if you would have a thousand rows of code before your content it would cause problems.
Comments: It is recommended of many reasons for example user-friendly and availability that al

W3C-Validation

The Myth: That a website who are validated by W3C will rank higher than a website who isn’t.
The Fact: As long as your website is coded good enough that a webbrowser can display it correctly it should be no problems. Alot of the highest ranked websites on Google haven’t been validated with W3C and there is no reason why Google should prioritize a validated website. A correct coded website can could be nice to the visitors.
Comments: Its obviously recommended that a website should be correctly coded with (X)HTML and CSS.

CSS-Layout VS Table-Layout

The Myth: That a website with CSS-design will rank higher than a website with a table-layout.
The Fact: A big procent of the websites on the internets still has layouts using tables. Google has no problems indexing theese websites as long as it dosn’t become a way too complicated table’s in table’s with a bad structure. But a website with a correctly coded structure could be nice for the visitors.
Comments: It is recommended to be using CSS for the layout.

XML-Sitemap

The Myth: That a Xml-Sitemap will give you a higher ranking on Google.
The Fact: A Xml-Sitemap could be helping Google on indexing your website in a correct way.
Comments: There is also a theori that a Xml-Sitemap indiretly could make a website rank higher because a Xml-Sitemap could lead to a better amount of indexed pages which could lead to a higher ranking.

Regular updates

The Myth: A website that often get updated will rank better than one who isn’t.
The Fact: If a website regularly being updated it will get spidered more often by Google. This doesn’t mean it will get ranked higher. A website who is updated regularly might be getting more backlinks naturally and might get ranked higher because of that reason. There is alot of high ranked websites on Google who haven’t been updated in years.
Comments: This myth could be twisted and in fact not even being a myth. Take it with a pinch of salt.

Meta-Elements

The Myth: That Meta-Elements is important for high ranking.
The Fact: Google completely ignores Meta-Keywords. Meta-Description has little, but almost zero effect on the ranking.
Comments: The Meta-Description does sometimes show up in the search results which could make it usefull.

Database generated Url’s

The Myth: That google cannot spider, index or rank Url’s with questionmarks and variables.
The Fact: Google has improved this since a few year ago. Well you should keep the variables down a bit.

The Google dance

The Myth: Google updates their index once every month.
The Fact: SEO vets might remember the “Google Dance” how search results used to get updated on a monthly basis. The fact is that Google has alot of data centers all over the world that are continuously updating its index all the time. Google could even index your site minutes after you published it if you are lucky.

Backlinks is no harm

The Myth: That a competitor or yourself couldn’t harm your website using backlinks.
The Fact: Google analyze all the links to a website. What kind of structure if has, where they comes from and their age and so on. Competitors or yourself could get your website associated with bad stuff, for example loosing the domain trust or even become blacklisted.

Backlinks is not that important

The Myth: Backlinks is good but its not that important.
The Fact: You will get nowhere without backlinks. Links is important and could even be more important than on-page in Google.

Sponsored links

The Myth: That sponsored links such as AdWords would effect (Positive or negative) the regular search results.
The Fact: Advertising with sponsored links has no effect what so ever on the regular search results.
Comments: Indirectly could sponsored links lead to higher ranking because more people can take part of the content and eventually share it naturally.

Meta-Element Revisit-After

The Myth: That the Meta-Element Revisit-After is a usefull Meta-Element that decides how often a search engine comes back to index your site.
The Fact: There is no sources pointing this would be correct, not even from W3C or any of the bigger search engines. It is documented that this element was created and used by a small search engine named British Columbia many years ago. No other search engine is using this element except possibly the internet catalouge Netinsert.
